Angry and terse, this short piece for Clarinet and Piano was written for a fellow student composer at Coventry University in 2002 and is now released twenty years later.

The long, loud clarinet line vies with the equally thundering piano for supremacy; sometimes the clarinet gains the ascendency, sometimes the piano does, but always they are working rather half-heartedly together. By the end they appear to have come to some sort of reconciliation, but it's an uneasy truce at best.
Composed in 2003 (originally for Descant Recorder and Piano) this new version for Flute and piano of Childhood Memories is a short suite of arrangements of songs that I was first introduced to as a child. From traditional nursery rhymes (Three Blind mice, My Grandfather's Clock) to the children's hymn When a Knight Won His Spurs, this suite is a microcosm of memories that I hope any former child will find nostalgic and uplifting.

Written in 2007, this short piece for flute and piano was originally composed for alto flute, and is a response to reading Susanna Clarke's novel "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell". Elements of the book's plot, and more particularly its by turns malevolent and magical atmosphere, provided the inspiration for this piece.
